News that the first meeting of the Bath City Liaison Forum is to take place next week has been welcomed by Bath and North East Somerset Council Leader Cllr Francine Haeberling. The forum aims to give the residents of Bath a greater say over important issues in the city and ensure that communities in Bath play an integral role in shaping the future of the city. Since the Conservatives formed the administration after last year’s local elections, Cllr Haeberling has been keen to see a forum set up in Bath which encourages the involvement of local people in a similar way to the Parish Liaison meetings in North East Somerset.
Commenting on the new forum, Cllr Haeberling said:
“Setting up the Bath City Liaison forum is a central part of our drive to ensure that communities in Bath have a strong voice on issues important to them. Having a forum where residents groups come together to discuss Bath’s priorities will ensure that people across the city are central to shaping Bath’s future. This innovative scheme has been welcomed by many people I’ve spoken to as something Bath will really benefit from.
“We want to make sure it is not simply represented by special interest groups or business organisations, but is truly a forum for the residents of Bath which is open to all properly constituted residents groups.”
